Collection Requirements

Head hair: 1.5 inches from the scalp, about 100–120 strands. Body hair can substitute if head hair is insufficient or unavailable. Hair must be at least 0.5 inches long.

Who Is This Test For?

Collection Requirements

Fingernails or toenails clipped from all 10 digits. Minimum 100mg of nail clippings required. Nails must be free of polish, acrylic, or gel coatings for at least 2–3 weeks before collection.

Detection Window

Up to 6 months (fingernails grow approx. 3–4mm/month; toenails grow slower and may detect even longer). Results available within 3–5 business days from the lab.

Best Alternative to Hair Testing

If a donor has shaved their head, has very short hair, or hair is otherwise insufficient, nail testing provides a court-accepted alternative with an even longer detection window than hair.

Who Is This Test For?

Court orders, DFCS, probation, child custody, individuals with insufficient hair, employers who require extended history testing, and anyone who needs a longer detection window than urine or oral fluid provides.

Valid government-issued photo ID. Remove nail polish, acrylic, or gel nails at least 2–3 weeks before your appointment. Bring any court or DFCS paperwork if applicable.

Collection Process

A swab is inserted between the cheek and lower gum for 3–5 minutes. No urine collection required. The donor must not eat, drink, smoke, or use oral products for at least 10 minutes before testing.

Observed Collection Available

Oral fluid collection can be directly observed, eliminating the possibility of adulteration or substitution. This makes it particularly useful for situations requiring a witnessed collection.

Random workplace testing, post-accident testing, roadside or on-site testing, individuals who cannot provide a urine specimen, reasonable suspicion testing, and situations requiring an observed or witnessed collection.

Legal vs. Non-Legal Testing

Legal DNA uses strict chain-of-custody with witnessed identity verification — results are admissible in court for child support, custody, and immigration. Non-Legal DNA is for personal knowledge only and cannot be used in court.

What to Bring

All participants must present a valid government-issued photo ID. For minors, a birth certificate and the custodial parent or legal guardian must be present. For court-ordered DNA, bring your order paperwork.

Testing Device

We use DOT-approved Evidential Breath Testing (EBT) devices that meet the DOT/NHTSA Conforming Products List requirements. All results are printed and documented.

Detection & Results

Breath alcohol testing detects alcohol consumed within the past few hours. Results are immediate. The screening test threshold is 0.02 BAC; confirmation test threshold is 0.04 BAC (DOT).

Our Breath Alcohol Technicians are certified under DOT regulations. All DOT BAT testing follows the procedures outlined in 49 CFR Part 40, including the required two-step screening and confirmation process.

All rapid tests are CLIA-waived, meaning they meet federal standards for accuracy and quality in point-of-care settings. Results are provided during your visit — no waiting for lab reports.

Rapid Post-Accident Response

Federal DOT regulations require post-accident testing as soon as possible after a qualifying accident. Our mobile team is available for urgent response across South Georgia — call us immediately after an incident.

What's Included

All mobile collections include: certified collection officer, all specimen supplies, chain-of-custody documentation, Federal Custody and Control Forms (CCF) for DOT tests, and results reporting to your designated contact or MRO.

How to Schedule

Call or book online at least 24 hours in advance for scheduled collections. For urgent post-accident testing, call immediately — we will do our best to respond same-day. Have your company name, address, number of donors, and test type ready.
